This is just a quick note to indicate that we are now back. I'll do more details about how everything went, and what I might do with the blog now that we are back.
We essentially walked into the front door of the house at 1:11 (it is 1:38 as I write this).
Getting to Charles de Gaul worked out well; we took the Metro and arrived in plenty of time. The experience of checking in and going through the several layers of security was a new experience for me -- I know that most people reading this know all of this already. Despite that, the personnel doing the checks were all rather pleasant.
We arrived in Boston 1/2 an hour earlier than our original itinerary showed. Getting through customs, and especially getting the bags rechecked, turned out to not be terribly difficult. Getting to the other terminal wasn't so hard either, nor was getting through security again.
Our flight leaving Boston ended up being late, and we were waiting for the runway for a while. However, Boston Logan is a rather pretty airport; it was pleasant seeing the tiny fishing boats, and the water-skier.
We ultimately arrived at SFO an hour later than originally intended, but our baggage came quickly, and we were able to take the SFO "Disneyland train" to BART. We caught the last BART of the evening. It took over an hour, mostly because the train had to wait at all of the transfer points for the other last trains of the evening, but we were able to get a direct train to Rockridge at the Daly City station, so we just sat and vegetated. At Rockridge, there were already taxicabs, and the taxi ride was quick and pleasant.
The cats were very glad to see us. Kali sniffed my hand for a very long time, as if she was trying to remember, but she then came in and rubbed up against everyone. The house is in fine shape; some lights were on for us. I pick up Rosemary later this morning. (At first I wrote tomorrow, but it is already tomorrow).
So, how's that for a quick note? Well, "I lack the time to make this missive brief", as someone famous once said.
The trip is done; it shall probably sink in more tomorrow, as we get our body clocks readjusted.
More later...

It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and certainly not desirable, as one's hat keeps blowing off.
